This week ABF is organizing H1N1 vaccination and our department session will be today afternoon. I am still in dilemma whether to take it or not. When i attended the briefing last Monday, there were a few staffs asking many questions. Some of the questions are: Is the vaccine safe? Can people with allergies take the vaccine? Is there any side effects?
Pregnant women and newborns are found to be especially at risk to get very ill. The number of death has increased and many people already take the shots for protection.
Does the vaccine harm the pregnant women? It always lingering in my mind until now. Although flu shots have not been shown to cause harm to pregnant women or their babies but in the other story, there are some cases it can harm the babies. There are also shocking stories from pregnant women who have had miscarriages after taking the vaccine, i read these from the internet. I really don’t know whether to believe or not. There could be unknown side effects, who knows, right?
So during the H1N1 vaccination briefing, the ABF doctor tells us that it is advisable that a woman who takes the vaccine not to be pregnant in 3 months time after the shots. I was in dilemma because I want to get pregnant and have baby now. I don’t know when is the right time to get pregnant but i think im getting older each day, so does my husband. Although we are newly married couple, just get married for one month plus..doesnt mean it is too rush..My colleague who is also just getting married says that she doesnt want to take the vaccine because she wants to become pregnant as soon as possible, she is one year older than me.
Well..still have 5 hours to think deeply whether to get the vaccine or not? What do you think?
